Winemaking: 100% whole cluster fermentation, zero sulfur until bottling, zero new oak, aged 10 months in large neutral foudres. Northern Rhône philosophy in Napa — Cornas/Crozes-Hermitage energy, not a big jammy California Syrah.

Tasting Notes: Violet florals, white pepper, bright red berries, and meaty/savory aromatics. Medium-bodied with layers of crushed stone, blood orange acidity, blackberry, plum, smoked earth, and black pepper. Velvety tannins lead to a finish of dried red rose petals. Potent yet delicate — a rare combination.

Food Pairings: Grilled lamb chops with herbs de Provence, duck confit, smoked brisket, wild boar, mushroom-crusted filet mignon, or aged hard cheeses like Manchego and aged Cheddar.

Critical Scores:

  • 97 pts — James Suckling: "Bright and focused with very fine tannins that give tension and energy. Blackberry, spice and some flint. Floral, too. Vivid."
  • 96 pts — Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Rich, deep and layered in the glass...potent yet delicate Syrah with a good deal of floral and spice notes."
