Producer
Tenuta Ulisse was founded in 2006 by brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse in Crecchio, a medieval village in the province of Chieti. Cococciola is a native Abruzzo white grape, planted in only a few communes around Chieti, and was long used just to give Trebbiano d'Abruzzo freshness. The vines average about 30 years old, on loose sandy soil, trained on the Abruzzese pergola.
Winemaking
Grapes are hand-harvested in boxes in mid-September. After a short cold maceration and pressing without oxygen, the must ferments slowly at 11°C. It ages in steel and finishes in bottle. The house signature is a cooling tunnel for skin cryomaceration. ABV is 13%.
