Hervé Villemade "Désiré" Cheverny Rouge 2020 (1.5L magnum) is a rare, special cuvée from Domaine Hervé Villemade in the Cheverny appellation of the Loire Valley, France.

This wine comes from very old-vine Pinot Noir planted by the producer's grandfather (Désiré, hence the name). It's produced only in exceptional vintages and bottled exclusively in magnum format (1.5L).

Key Details:

  • Grape: 100% Pinot Noir (unlike the estate's standard Cheverny Rouge, which blends ~60% Pinot Noir with 40% Gamay).
  • Style: Natural, minimalist winemaking — organic farming, native yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation (often 15-20 days), aging in vessels like qvevri, barrels, or amphorae, with little to no added sulfur. Expect elegant, fresh, pure Pinot character: red berries (raspberry, cherry), finesse, soft tannins, minerality, and earthy notes.
  • Producer: Hervé Villemade, a pioneer in natural wines in Cheverny (Cellettes), farming ~22-25 hectares organically since 2000. Imported in the US by Louis/Dressner Selections.
  • Rarity: Magnum-only and vintage-dependent, so limited availability.
