Benvolio was founded in 2008 in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy's northeastern corner bordering Austria and Slovenia. The name comes from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet — Benvolio is the "well-wisher," the peacemaker character — a nice, easy story hook for a crowd-pleasing wine. The estate benefits from a distinctive climate: warm Adriatic breezes by day, cool Alpine air by night, which extends the growing season and helps the grapes hold acidity while ripening fully. Benvolio is part of the Jackson Family Wines portfolio (the Kendall-Jackson family's global wine group).
This Wine
100% Pinot Grigio. Dry, crisp, and full-bodied for the variety, with refreshing acidity and a clean finish.
Tasting notes: lemon zest, pink grapefruit, and honeysuckle on the nose; palate loaded with fruit-cocktail notes — melon, lychee — layered with white jasmine, peach skin, and a touch of crème fraîche.
Food Pairings
Great as an aperitivo on its own. Pairs well with white fish, white meats (chicken, pork), and a salad built around stone fruit — light, acid-driven food that won't fight the wine's brightness.
Certifications
Certified sustainable under SQNPI (Italy's National Quality System for Integrated Production).
