Family estate in Monforte d'Alba, right in the heart of the Bussia cru. Carlo Ghisolfi bought into Bussia in 1985; his son Attilio expanded the holdings; grandson Gianmarco has run the winery since 1988 and is now into a fifth generation of family winemaking. About 17 acres total, mostly Nebbiolo with some Barbera and Freisa.

Tasting notes: Ruby-red to garnet, flowery and expansive on the nose, well-balanced, deep, tannic, long finish — drinkable young for a Barolo but built to age. Three major critics weighed in on this exact vintage: Wine Spectator (95 pts) found "rose, cherry, licorice, tobacco, cut hay and tar," calling it "solidly built" with a drinking window of 2024–2043. James Suckling (94 pts) called it clear and refined with dark-berry and candied-citrus notes, medium-bodied, tight fine tannins. Wine Enthusiast (94 pts) found camphor, forest floor, blue flowers, ripe Morello cherry and star anise, suggesting 2027–2032.

Sourced from south/southwest-facing vineyards 5–18 years old on marly white tufa soil, native-yeast fermentation, 10-day maceration, aged 36 months in large Slavonian oak plus 6 months in bottle.

Food pairings: Roasts, game, truffle dishes, mature cheeses — straight from the winery's own notes.
